Finally: Hanami

I can't hide this any longer, cherry blossoming has finally arrived in Kitakami.
On this shot, you can see a neatly arranged picnic place; people often
come already in the morning, to "reserve" the best spots, by setting up their picnic equipment.
Today, full bloom is announced. Infortunately, the weather is nasty, cold wind with sometimes rain - poor tourists who come from far away by hundreds of buses, some even from Tokyo.
Why? Kitakami is officially classified the third most beautiful cherry blossom viewing spot in Northern Japan.

You're lucky to live there and maybe you don't know it. I'd like to visit Kitakami one day...

Sure I do! It's always great to have the chance to live abroad. Though Kitkami isn't exactly the most interesting place in Japan ....but I really do like living here, there are lots of nice things to do and to discover.

I have only been here a month, but I can confirm it is a nice place. I like it. I couldn't recommend it to someone looking for a big city, but it is close to nature and has many beautiful places.

Perhaps the town itself is a little too weather-worn to be called pretty, but it has a lot of small-town appeal. It feels "real", rather than flashy or trendy...

Here people often arrive early to reserve places for picnics and barbecues.....but someone has to stay with the stuff! it would never work leaving it there unattended ;-)
