In most of the pictures of japanese rivers I've seen they have looked very shallow. Is it common to have shallow rivers In japan?
I don't know, but you are right, most rivers I know here are wide, but shallow. And especially in this late autumn season, there is not much rain, so they are even more shallow than normal.
